Everywhere ambitions are outsized. “Shoot for the stars!” is a mantra. Ambition becomes bigger than self. It is revered by social climbers in charge of everything. At the height of ambition, the fate of Icarus becomes visible in the night skies. We wait for the fall into darkness of vanity, hubris, arrogance, and the incendiaries of spontaneous ego flames.
