Cieba Bog, Puerto Rico 48" x 36" unframed (3 layers) The Executive Commander of the Ceiba Airbase in Puerto Rico was my student. He was earning a Master’s in American History. He took me on a tour of the base and stopped at a bog, "A mangrove bog," he said, "once an orchard." He was a dreamer, an ex-navy pilot landing jets on carriers now a "desk jockey," he said. The bog was his view of the world. Aquatic realms and land flora mixing with intricate comings and goings were his historical fathers. |
