At first I
thought this piece was going to be a person’s bottom, but a rose grew, then the
silhouette of a coyote, then the larger eagle’s head, and finally the jar with a
rose-colored lid. I am a fieldworker who has worked in the Willamette Valley
grass seed industry, where the next year’s premium crop seed is almost sacred.
This seed stock was called “Blue Tag,” hence the blue tape border. I felt the
jar contained something special and wanted to containerize it by adding a border
of blue masking tape. The Seed Jar is indigenous. The frame is by Marty Weiss. |
